What would you use? Horizontal and 144.2 (calling freq)?
Curious, as I have a very old Yaesu 2m SSB that might make
an interesting PSK31 rig. Alas, I don't have a beam any more.

It seems to me that PSK31 mode would work very well for 2 meter
weak-signal contacts. I have called CQ a few times on 2 meters but have
not been able to raise anyone. Has anyone tried PSK on 2 meters? If
so, do you have any observations regarding its usefulness for
weak-signal contacts particularly how it compares to ssb?
Any comments would be much appreciated.
Also, if anyone would like to set up a sked with me for two meters,

Steve-
I believe I'd use 144.150 (or thereabouts) and horizontal polarization;
essentially the same setup as a 2 meter SSB station would use. We could, of
course, agree on any frequency, but my station is set up to operate from
144.100 to 144.300, so any frequency in that range would do. You are in EM15
so that would put us right at about 200 miles apart- perfect for a 2 meter
weak signal psk31 test. Let me know if you'd like to give it a try.

Darren and Steve, I am in the process of getting the software on my Ham
computer, and getting my 6m rig setup for the PSK31. I also have the 2m
capabilities, and will try to get it on as well. I have plans to get it all
going this week, if nothing pops up to stop it. As for Steve's antenna
situation, he could use a simple dipole for the time being until he got
something else. It would be a SHORT one though... I have a KLM-2700 for 2m SSB
etc, and a Kenwood TS-670 for the 6m stuff. Bith rigs are 10 watts, and each
feeds it's own 3 element beam. WIll look for you later, and let me know if you
decide on a 2m freq.

CSS and MFJ release TNC host mode program for Windows 95, Windows 98,
Windows NT and Windows 2000

Muscle Shoals, Alabama. June 12, 2000:
Creative Services Software announced today that MultiComm Host for Packet, a
32 bit host mode program for the MFJ TNCs has been released. The program
takes advantage of the advanced features of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows
NT, and Windows 2000. MultiComm Host uses the TNC's 'BLP' host mode for
Packet communications. Its MFJ part number is MFJ-1284H. The MultiMode
version will follow later this year.

Company President Rick Ruhl, N4GDO, said, "BLP Host Mode was created by
Howard Goldstien, N2WX, in 1991 and according to the MFJ technical staff, we
are the first company in the 9 years it has existed to successfully
interface to it. "
