Here's some info that may be of use to those of you that have old notebooks
without soundcards, but would still like to get on the digital modes without
having to use their desktop PC.
An outfit called "EXP Computer" makes a PCMCIA soundcard that fits into the
PC card slot on notebook PCs. I've used this on my Toshiba P75 notebook,
along with my Kenwood TS440, and found that it works very well on PSK using
DigiPan. Windows 95 recognizes the card right away, and all you need to do
is load the software included with the PC card.
One simple mod I had to make on the PC card is to disconnect the internal
mic to eliminate feedback. This was very simple to do and takes about 10
minutes. Also, I had to make a simple attenuator to reduce the audio going
INTO the soundcard. The card has an onboard volume control, and this may be
used to adjust the audio going INTO the xcvr.
You can get this card from a company called CDW, part #181334, and it runs
about $80.00, including shipping. Their number is 800-861-4239. The people
who make the card have a web site adr of "expcomputer.com", or something
like that, and they give full specs on the card. I've also seen this card
for sale on E-Bay for around $20 to $30.

Can anyone lead me to the web site for these programs . I would like to try
them for interest.
The Ritty site seems unavailable and Zakanaka is always in Beta test and
