Currently only for those that order it via the Web. But you may be right.
I think the story may be, that the $99 offer will only be good through the
web, and Circuit City will never see another shipment :-)

The share holders already balked on the New York Times and other
articles about the hacking, and when share price fell, the company
quickly said the new devices can't be hacked. The stock rose a bit
after that.
Netpliance has a new developers page on their web site. They are giving
100 of these away to people who have a good development idea. They
also announced that they are committed to open-source, and want to move
into Linux in a real way.

Actually the 16 Meg Flash is all I need for PeeWee Linux.
Reports from people who have got the new ones, are that they are identical
to the old ones. So the news release was mean't to coddle investors, but
since many investors now know the truth, some have complained to the SEC
about possible fraud. One only has to look at Transcrypt to see what
happens to companies that make false statements.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/trii.ob.html
Netpliance reported that the modification would not
cost the company anything. Go figure...
The web page that follows the whole story, is at:

I went into the local Circuit City just to take a look at it. The card
indicating the price said "contract required". I didn't investigate
further (they only had the demo, of course).

The TS-570D does not have that problem. Kenwood has a fix for the 450
(can't recall what it is, right now), but it might be easier to get the
570. I've used the 570 with the PTC-II--works great, and you can use
the 500 hz filter in the IF.

This is a known defect with the TS450 and TS850, and effects all TNCs.
There is a fix from Kenwood. I had the same problem with my TS850 and
