Can anybody tell me now to use the Upload command in the DataEngine to
upload software ?.

I wanted to try uploading the G8BPQ software into ram for testing. My Data
Engine has 256K of ram

The manual just says to look in the Developer's Manual.

I assume it needs some parameters ? Maybe Starting Address and Data Length
?.

Is there a site around with some of this info. I have looked at most of the
usual packet sites.

Thanks.
Dan

Quoting from the manual:

When the DE receives the command "UPLOAD HEXFILE", it will output the message
"send Intel hex file" and then wait for a hex file to be uploaded to it. The
hex file should
be in the form defined by Intel using EXTENDED ADDRESS RECORDs. There is no
default segment defined so an EXTENDED ADDRESS RECORD must precede any
uploaded data. During the upload, DMA and interrupts are disabled and only the
stack
(0040:0000 through 0060:0000) is used for temporary variables. After the
loader has
read in a valid checksum in the EOF record, the loader will read and throw
away
one
more byte and then jump to the start address specified in the last START
ADDRESS
RECORD. If a START ADDRESS RECORD has not been received, the DE will jump
to FFFF:0000. If during the upload an incorrect checksum is received for a
record,
the DE will do a soft reset.

Usually BPQ is run from a second EPROM in the data engine, and selected via
the option switch on the front panel. However, it should be possible to upload
it (or any other software) via the UPLOAD HEXFILE command.

Why is it, that every CW fanatic descends on this group whenever a
modern form of communication is experimented with?

The fact is, that after April 15th, CW is effectively dead as a political
tool. Get over it.

Why is it, that every geek who advocates what he considers to be a "modern
form of communication" feels obligated to make disparaging remarks about CW
operators? Will the CW sigs somehow keep the newer stuff from working?
What's the excuse for the unreasoning hostlity? Hmmmm?

CW ops do not "descend on this group", but they will defend themselves when
someone goes out of their way to run them down. Unreasonable of those mean
old CW ops to defend themselves, isn't it Steve?

Fact is, CW never was big as a "political tool". If this is your take on
what hams do with CW, no wonder you are so clueless and hostile about the
mode.

....But then again, Steve, you have always shown a penchant for displaying
clueless hostility to your fellow Hams and to be fair, your unreasoning
hostility and deep-rooted ignorance has been directed at almost ALL
legitimate Hams and Ham activities discussed on this news group; Not just
