I don't see where this is true. Nowhere do they mention withdrawl of these
frequencies from the amateur service or that this allocation overrides any
prior allocation to any other wireless service.

I realize that ANY loss of Amateur spectrum is bad, but is anyone actually
doing
anything on that band?

Amateur Service is incompatible with the safety of
life issues of the new allocation. The FCC is not going
to allow Hams to interfere with Ambulances trying to
set traffic signals for an emergency run.

No, Hams are to busy protecting ancient technologies like Morse Code
and single channel repeater systems to concern themselves with actually
expanding the use of the bands.

I saw a guy in Dallas selling waveguide for this band.
I asked him if he experimented with the band, and he
said no. Didn't know anyone who did. The only mode
that is being used there is SSB and CW.
Most Amateurs can be found on 2 meters, 70 cm,
and HF, running modes from 70 years ago. Some even try
to keep the telephone BBS era alive from the 70's.
All the more reason that Hams should be moved completely
to HF bands, and the commercial interests can take over
and produce 21st Century products in the vacated VHF, UHF,
and SHF bands.

No, but we could be! If we weren't so busy trying to preserve CW, heh, heh.
