Subject: Mapping AX25 BBS topics to NNTP

Some substantial work on this has been done by the UKIP group, and is
accessible via http://www.aggis.demon.co.uk/ BUT .... the mappings are
intended for use on 'airside' NNTP servers rather than on the net, and
are of the ampr. hierarchy

A master file of mappings etc. is provided, together with tools to
produce the necessary files for JNOS and Linux 'mailgw' systems.

TNOS version 2.30 source code can be modified to use the raw gateway
mapping file supplied in the UKIP package, and a determined NNTP gateway
supremo can obtain the mods at: http://www.rat.org.uk/amrad/nntp7a.tgz

Don,

The MutliMode TNC's provide ASCII and RTTY support. Kantronics has the Kam
Plus and KAM 98, Timewave has the PK-232 DSP, MFJ has the 1278B, SCS the
PTC-II and HAL the P-38 and DXP38.

This will give you RTTY/ASCII and many more modes, which we've found hams
find very useable on hf.

Check them out on the following webpages...

I bought an old used MFJ 1278 and hooked it up to an old 386 computer and did
RTTY using Procomm, a very early version of modem/communication software
running under DOS 6.0....worked great. Now I've upgraded my computer to a
25mhz pentium, my 1278 and Hyperterm (or whatever the default communication
software is called in Windows 95) still works great.

Subject: new to packet; unable to transmit?!?

Hello!
I recently purchased a Kantronics Packet Communicator 3 Plus and am
trying to get it working with my Radio Shack HTX202. I purchased the
appropriate cables and have set the internal jumper to "HT". I've tried
both the Pacterm and KPWin software, both of which seem to work in receive
mode. I am unable to connect and get no Transmit lights to come on? The
XMITOK value is ON as well.
I'm sure its something simple, but could use a few tips to check. Any
ideas?

Subject: WinLink 2.9 and FBB forwarding

In my search for software to suit my HF/VHF needs I have downloaded
WinLink 2.9. This is now working with my PK-232/DSP and TNC-2 clones
with TF2.7(WA8DED type firmware).
There are two questions (so far), both reference the VHF packet ports:
1. How do I set this up to handle my local BBS which runs FBB?
2. Winlink won't forward if there is no mail to forward but can it be
forced to reverse forward?
In general it looks as if WinLink will suit my needs if I can sort
this forwarding thing out.
