I was looking at a DVD player and it said that it was Kodak Picture CD Compatable JPG Readable and I read the following information on the internet:

1.

Kodak Picture CD is a CD that contains your pictures in JPEG format(.jpg)
along with software that lets you view, enhance, share, and print your
pictures from your computer. Some standalone DVD Players supports this
format also, but then only for viewing. This format will also work on DVD
Players that supports "JPEG file viewing" but you may lose some Kodak
Picture CD specific features. Kodak Picture CD.

2.

Question:

Can I view my Picture CD on my DVD player?

Answer: Answer last updated: 02-24-03

DVD players showing the KODAK Picture CD compatible logo have been tested
and certified by Kodak to ensure that an enjoyable viewing experience is
provided. You can view your KODAK Picture CD pictures on those DVD players.
Some DVD players that do not show the KODAK Picture CD compatible logo may
still reference KODAK Picture CD playability in their manuals. While we
would expect these units to work correctly, Kodak has not tested them.

Finally, other DVD players are able to play standard JPEG (.jpg) images.
Therefore, if the DVD player plays standard JPEG images, you should be able
to view the pictures from your KODAK Picture CD. In any of these cases,
please refer to your DVD player user's manual for the ability to play JPEG
images.

New models featuring KODAK Picture CD compatibility are continually being
introduced to markets throughout the world. Look for the KODAK Picture CD
compatibility logo to assure the most complete viewing experience of your
KODAK Picture CD using your DVD player.

However I am wondering if I still can look at a JPG without the Kodak Picture CD?
The DVD is a JDBC Slimline-2 @ £64.99 on offer from a well known drug store. I know of course that I can write a CD to DVD format on the PC so that I can run it on the DVD as a movie or slideshow, but would like to find out if as I said before, that I can still look at individual JPG's without the Kodak driving software disk.
I am wondering if the Kodak program writes the images into a DVD format and would be grateful if anybody can enlighten me on this?
