                        THE ROYAL PAVILION CINEMA

On the corner of Tyldesly Road and Rigby Road, Blackpool (Near Manchester
Square). Props; Marks Circuit Cinemas, Manchester:

Originally was called the New Alexandra, then became a striptease and
review bar, then became the Royal Pavilion Cinema in the mid 60's; the
last and also the end of Fylde Cinemas Ltd, when it sadly closed around
1998. It became a small theatre but survived only about 2 years and
closed-up again. In the box were an original pair of Westar projectors,
Peerless MagnarC carbon arcs and Western Electric sound. Projector "A"
was converted to xenon lamp and was also adapted to run with a "long
runner" tower pedestal. The other projector remained there unconverted,
original with the carbon arc.

It has all been bought out by an Scottish entroproneur and has all been
converted into the "The Crazy Scots Bar" and family bar. The entire
building is all this now, even the cellar bar, which used to be a night
venue. I have revisited it and was not very enammered to see the original
auditorium has been made into a family bar and the box; its now an office
and where the safe is! The "Sportsman's Bar", where a bookie's and a
small cafe were
