Dam Busters the first movie in the 50s, was accurate. Yes it
happened, and some information was released to the public via
the BBC announcement after the raid. That information and
some not classifed went into the movie.

What stands out in the movie is also the inaccurate information.

Their prime idea, for the dam buster bomb had no historical reference.

The idea of Mr. Wallis, was not rejected, it was accepted when applied.

Lots of other "flubs" in the film too to satify the censors at the
time, and thus NO violation of the Secrets Act.

As for Capone and his books, well yes, I remember reading somewhere
they put a leverage on the head bookkeeper and he co-operated.

YOU not I assume Freemen are OK with me. Lets get something straight
and that is we in Canada don't have these "Freemen" so no comment on
them. Easy. The problem is in your country not mine.

Original posting was wartime black market. Interesting about the
false walls in Scotland. Wonder what time period that came from.
Always thought better Black Marketeers were in Yorkshire with
all the history there, but well I must await another instalment
of the program I was watching from UK TV.

Got another email from a source in UK, about that other movie
called "The Man who never was". Now there is another author
claiming that the spoof that fooled the Germans was from the
RN. Thats interesting, as the Government honored the daughter
yet corrected the burial in the cemetary to the name really
buried in the grave there.

hmmm this tea is great....
