The article did mention that the coils were resonated so let's think about
one of the principle components of a superhetrodyne receiver, that device
that comprises two (more or less) loosely coupled, resonant coils. Does the
name Intermediate Frequency "TRANSFORMER" spring to mind?

What these laboritory technicians did was far from new. They have obviously
increased the power a tad, but the "phenomenon" is hardly new, it's at
least as old as radio.

>Where did the power for the 10 MHz generation come from?

Umm, how about a transmitter?

Sorry, Gordon. Just trying to add a bit of humour!!

Andy, GM7HUD, raised the point that I touched on in a P reply to Bob, VK6BE. If
the Anti-Radio Tower mob complain about a handful of watts from mobile
phone cell sites, they'd go into convulsions at the thought of high levels
of RF being used at ground zero to drive light bulbs.

The article mentioned the use of magnetic waves, suggesting they're
harmless. Tell that to the anti-overhead powerlines brigade who claim power
lines also cause cancer.

The solution to stopping this method of polluting the RF spectrum is quite
simple. Don't bother complaining to your local spectrum admimistration mob,
whisper in the ear of every anti-everything organisation you can find and
let them do the work for you.

If only everything in life was so simple.

I'd say cheers but my tongue is too firmly planted in my cheek and I can't
talk.
