Hello friends,

A new version of CLX was released today. It was uploaded to
ftp.funet.fi:/pub/ham/incoming in the evening of January 16, 1997.

I hope the archive maintainers will soon find the time to move
the files to the appropriate directories so you will find the files

     install.txt (110774 Bytes)
          README (7120 Bytes)
     README_2.06 (2049 Bytes)

at the following places:

              ftp.funet.fi:/pub/ham/unix/Linux/cluster

CLX Version 2.06 released January 16, 1997

Version 2.06 is again a completely new package not to be updated over
any previous release. You may, however, follow the procedure described in
the documentation about migrating to a new revision.

*** CHANGES ***

There are several new features in 2.06 including:

- The WWV and SH/WWV commands have been implemented and available ever
since version 2.02 was released. Unfortunately, it did not make it
into the documents. WWV is now documented also in the user
  help files.

- All the Perl scripts in ~/tools having to do with Postgres were fixed.
The new Postgres now requires every statement to have a ';' at
  the end.

- Changed `check' script to look for drivers in the kernel and ipcs/rpcinfo.

- A new backup program backing up private databases and command
  extensions.

- The `sun' program was redesigned to pick up messages from the
adv_txt file. Source code for the sun program is included so
you can see how it's done. We encourage you to write your own
  CLX extensions.

- `clxd' was redesigned to retrieve its messages from the
adv_txt file. Now you simply adapt adv_txt to Italian/French
language etc. and all clx programs speak Italian/French.

- Put some work into the expect scripts in the connect directory.
`ax25-router' now works a little better, and `monitor' can now
receive both "DX de .." and "PC11" messages.

- clx_ctl at startup now shows the correct callsign including SSID.
In 2.05 the SSID feature was not respected.

- Several problems removed in connection with connect scripts. Now
  all seems to work fine.

- clx_adm tool to actively connect/disconnect and send ping commands
  and for other admin jobs.

- The "?clx?" prompt is gone now in most places.

- The time sent with Announce now carries a leading 'Z' to indicate
  Zulu (UTC) time.

- Documentation transformed to SGML code. So now we can provide you with
both a printable version, a HTML version and a plain text version of
  the CLX documentation.
