Hi Indy and all,
That should be an attention getter, none of this has anything to do with
the Bobmobile. Actually it has nothing to do with the Outbacker either,
banana plugs and jacks wouldn't stand the abuse. I see now, you're not
driving American highways so a mirror mount might be OK for a 2M quarter
wave but not much else. I'm not quite sure what a bull bar is but I can
imagine, you know what you're doing like some of our more recreational
types who replace the ball on a trailer hitch with the good old ball and
spring. Never mind the ball and chain, an OTR truckie is never home. (;->)
Right, trouble is I haven't seen Delco-Remy around for years since GM
sold the division but like American railroads likely they're alive and
well in Australia and still producing quiet alternators. Simple regulator
design too, one of my neighbors has a dead Chrysler product driving us
both mad until my trusty Simpson gave up on it. If you have problems they
make active filters like I said and 40A is child's play for some of those
"drivers" booming away in the boot. I just happened across a 30A one
kicking around in a friends car and the price was right, can't beat free.
CAT doesn't PRETEND not to understand although they often pretend TO
understand. Maybe that's why they no longer manufacture truck engines.
Speaking of which, you find "truck engines" in the strangest places,
railroad locomotives. If you read one of my bulls a few days ago on the
subject you may by now have realized what the feline is doing in
GP-40PH2CAT. For those who just got lost, General Purpose 40 series 2
phase AC traction Caterpillar Diesel prime mover. Anyway I think we all
came to the conclusion that no matter the radiation limits outside the
cab may be they say nothing to the radio INSIDE the cab but #^*%&$#@!!! I
hope all goes well so you don't have to trade it in for a mule.
No, my Toyota would be very unhappy with that sort of load, the 80HP
engine could handle it once you give it a good shove from behind and get
it started but without you back there putting your back into it the
clutch might protest a bit. Sorry but a 2400HP CAT won't fit under the
hood and the CV joints just weren't outfitted for electric traction
motors.
Yeah, you might have guessed I know more about trains than I do about
trucks so good luck. I'll leave you with this thought to ponder, what do
railroads and Marconi have in common?
