Your bulletins are bit like my late mothers' soup, Peter. A bit of
everything went into it and not all of what went in was recognizable.

First: My tx also receives. There! That got rid of that small point!

Second: A Ford Falcon has five wheels, four on the road and one in the
boot! There, we got that straight too.

Third: The best place for me to mount the antenna is at the rear. The
front bumper is plastic and difficult to mount anything on. I used to
mount on the roo bar at the front but air bags made roo bars undesirable
articles these days, uless you pay a small frotune for a specially built
one. I didn't bother. Cheaper to pay the excess if I hit a roo.On the roof
for an 80 metre whip would have me in all sorts of trouble.

Fourth: I know where 18 wheelers put their antennae. With no railway and a
large wheat growing region to the east of us 18 wheelers and road trains
thunder down to our port every day. Scanias are about as common as
seagulls. They are no novelty to us here. Much of our goods from the
capital city comes by road train - three units behind the prime mover.
From memory the waraning signs say they are 34 metres (about 100feet)

Fifth: I had a driving licence for an 18 wheeler, and a road train till
three years ago when I turned them in as of no further use to me. .

I still hold a licence for a Heavy Rigid Vehicle.(any vehicle not
articulated). I trained as a driver of heavy vehicles in the Army during
the war. That was in 1942; 65 years ago. Tell me about big trucks!! In my
unit, we all had to train. For a while the vehicle assigned to my loving
care was an armoured car which weighed slightly less than the Sydney
Harbour Bridge. Got that off my chest too!
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.
