Hi Peter and all,

"Come away with me Lucielle, in my merry Bobmobile..." (Ray may be able
to help with that one.)

"I have a rear mounted antenna..."

As you quoted, that's not an 18 wheeler in his drive.

There's good reason why truckers mount the antennas on the mirrors,
fiberglass cab bodies and then there's that pesky air dam that often
curves back over the entire roof.

I remember those noise supressor kits that usually don't work worth a
poop, they'd be even more useless today if such is possible. For years
the spark plug wires have been carbon impregnated cotton and resistor
plugs went the way of the dodo, they're just not needed. The distributor
kit was made for mechanical ponts, they're gone too. Forget the
alternator filter, it looks like a short stick of dynamite and that can
get you in deep trouble these days. (;->) The best suppression for whine
I've ever used is an active filter used in the B+ lead of those "boom
amps" that drive you nuts passing by. Hey, boom boxes in the trunk are
good for one thing, structural integrety testing of body welds. Anyway
those filters average a 30A capacity so they're ideal for putting in the
B+ lead to the average 100W ham rig.

As for those black box engine controls, that's a bit beyond my ken but I
believe auto manufacturers have retro kits for them. RF works both ways,
spurs from the computer not only get into the receiver but the
transmitter can get into the computer and digital dash as well. I
remember a 2M FM rig that drove a Volvo-White nuts but that's another log
entry. I'm just thankful I never had anything but an alternator whine
that I soon fixed in the VXAmobile, Toyota believes in KISS. No, not THAT
guy and his tongue isn't all that long either.
