Hello!

X-net and the daemnon verion of fbb under linux.
If you don't have a computer fast enough or with memory enough is running fbb
under dos on one computer and flenxet as node on another a good altyernative.
You can also run fbb and flexnet ont he same computer, but it is not a good
idea if you want to use the node, depending on hardware used etc.
But modern software is made for modern computers so you can't expect that is
sahll be possible to use som old 286 computer etc for packet nodes any more.
But on the other hand does this make it possoble to user higher speeds than in
the old days, high speed apcket was not possible before but now it is.
The packet radio network can never be faster if the computers, softwares etc
used never will be replaced.
We don't want a slow bad working packet network just because pople wants to
useonly one computer, some very old ones etc.
There are plenty of 386, 486 comptuers etc avalaible for packet radio use, they
are suitable for this, but to slow for most other usage.
Don't really know why epople think it is so good to run bbs and node on the
same computer, with only one processor.

Use flexnet if you want a node under dos.
But dos fbb is soon history, since it not is developed any more.
To run a node under M$ windows is not a very bright idea, but for bbs
operation can it be used.
The multitasking of a pc with only one processor is not very good and you
don't want the node to suffer from that.
To use one comptuer for the node and on for the bbs is to prefer.

Compared to the useless documentaion of bpq is it probably good.
But you are right packet radio is often not very easy, msot documetations
requires that you know alot about packet rdio and so on.
Msot people don't and that is a problem.
If you want something easy use flexnet, it is extreamly easy to set up and so
on ans it is still very good.
Thenet is very old, if you want a node like than use TheNetNode 1.6x.
Thenetnode now uses an improved net/rom routing and works much better than he
old routing. But net/rom is not very good anyway, much overhead etc.
Try flexnet or x-net!

Sure.
