No special eeprom, 6pack is just a protcol for communication between computer
and tnc.
This protcol can be used by every tnc.
To make firmwares that supports it is free for everyone to do for their
tncs. The manufacturers for example kantronics and paccomm could do that.
I don't know if they even let some one else write firmwares for their tncs, or
if they want to make money on it.
The 6pack firmware that comes with flexnet is for tnc2 and compatibles.
Tnc2s are rather usual here some sort of defacto standard for tncs.
There are many free firmwares avaliable for it, like nordlink's thefrimware.
>Next, FlexNet ( by his "representative" UZI ) say his program is the best and

No but flexnet is rather good, the best packet driver I have tried.
A node with a good routing protocoll and a routing that works fine.
That doesn't mean that every other program is impossible to use, even if it
not is exactly as good, can it work fine.
But 6pack as a protocol for communication between tnc and computer is better
than kiss, always!
There is no reson for telling you that your tnc and packet driver works as
good as a tnc (or modem) and flexnet, since it doesn't.
Or that kiss is just as good as 6pack.
If you can use flexnet do that.
>Guys, you have to understand that the problem isn't in FlexNet :
>YOUR HARDWARE IS OBSOLETE, TOO !!!!! TRASH IT AND RUN FLEXNET, NOW !!!!!
That is not my opinion.
The problem with tnc firmwares lack of support for 6pack realy is not a
problem of flexnet.
A firmware with support for 6pack can be made for every tnc!
There are also other good nodes avaliable, like x-net and thenetnode, which you
can use if you prefer. But as packet driver for end users don't I know of any
equivalent alternative.
It should be agw packet enginee for use under win95 then.
