Hi Pete and all,
That "hiding behind the mic" sounds familiar, as squabbles increased so
did use of the phrase.(;->) I can understand Maria's creeps, as time wore
on more and mor showed up at various gatherings and when fights started
to break out I quickly lost interest.
Yeah I know the Titan was base only, named for its size it wouldn't fit
well even in a 50s car. The Hallicrafters under the dash of the OM's 57
Chevy was quite enough. Down the road a piece in another car came an SBE,
a real POS but it was his introduction to SSB and the gang on channel 16.
You seem to be more of a historian than I never having interest in
keeping track of all the rigs othersd talked about, so did Tram have
another mobile besides the XL? Being the Titan was a big box of air and
the transceiver board was just the right size for a mobile of the time
makes me wonder.
I'm surprised the Browning wasn't legal in Canada unless the DoT didn't
like the way it splattered. Besides that annoying ping I hated the
clipper and seeming lack of filtering, the plain and commonly used D-104
mic sounded tinny and raspy. Yeah, it "splashed" like a fat man
cannonball into a pool. Otherwise it was a great rig, I don't know why
Browning overlooked that glaring design flaw.
Ian in his CB attire? I don't know, I don't think he looks fierce enough
to qualify as a road warrior. (;->)
