I actually thought Dickie did a good job in the electronics field.
Bringing home electronics construction to you at a corner shop was admirable.
For UK readers, buying a Dick Smith Kit was as easy as buying a loaf of
bread back in VK and just as cheap.
Electronics and kit building is seen in the UK as a specialist thing,
only practiced by beardy weirdies and obtainable from specialist
sources.
