Hi again. I've got the backdrop working now. I modified the line in the
!Boot file that loaded the original backdrop AND set the "Background
texture" option in the screen configuration to "None". I had modified the
boot file before but I guess somehow the change was being overridden by the
screen configuration. Easy when you know how - and I worked it out for myself!

Now if only I could get rid of that nasty "Adding fonts" message that
appears during boot-up (which I'm sure persists even after !Style has
finished adding fonts) then my desktop would be complete....
