Salutations and Greetings to all,
I was wondering if anyone has knowledge, via experience, programming Icom
207 H, 2 meter and 440 cm, mobile radio via a computer using Icom software?
Thank you.

Subject: [aprssig] Batteries America BT-11H
I am not sure if this is too far off topic or not.
Has anyone tried the Batteries America BT-11H
(http://www.batteriesamerica.com/newpage9.htm) 6AA cell battery pack? As
little hefty $$ at $25USD but if the quality is OK then one could buy
multiple sets of high capacity rechargable AA cells and might end up ahead
of the game over buying extra battery packs.
Any better recommendations?

Yes, it is off-topic. This group is for the discussion of SkyCommand.
It should be alright if you use Alkaline batteries. If you use
rechargeables the voltage will drop to 7.5 volts. I guess that would work
as well.
Does anyone recall a battery pack that had a GPS built-in? I thought I saw
one on eBay once upon a time.

I have 2 of them that I have been using for a few weeks now, with excellent
results.
Added to this are the 2900mah batteries I found to put into them.
Let's me run for a few days before battery pack changes

A regular battery pack is better. The spring contacts have a small amount
of voltage drop thet adds up.] You have 12 contacts. There is a reason they
spot weld the batteries to gether in a commercial pack. Battery corrosion
makes it worse.

It can do it, but you only get one port -- no cross-port digipeating.
Check the Makefile for digi_ned and see that you can comment out/in a line
or two to switch from AX.25 stack to standard KISS on Serial for the
interface.

And to answer your question - I once had digi_ned running this way on a
Linksys WRT54G wireless router (not using the wireless part, of course)

Using alkaline or NiMH or NiCD cells, over the counter, in this kind of
pack provides a great deal of flexability and eliminates a number of "I
don't have power" issues. It can cause you to stop treating "charging" as
an important part of your equipment management regiment though.
I have 24 NiMH AA cells that I use in a dry cell pack for one of my HTs
that has an 8AA cell pack. It makes it really easy to switch cells when
needed, recharge cells and replace single bad cells. The price, per "pack"
is much less when you don't have to also pay for the packaging that's on
convential rechargable packs.

I used to do that 30 years ago.
I do not do it any more for a reason.
I do not even build my own battery packs any more.
If you can afford the radio you can afford a decent battery pack.

Hmmm...
Digi_Ned on Linux using I guess an external TNC... I thought that was a
TNC EPROM replacement job?
Tell me more? I have Mandrake 9.2 on a P2 500 (I've been rather impressed
with it's stability) and TNC 220's available, and we locally have been told
that we could perhaps "adapt" a currently dormant packet node to an APRS
digi.
There is even a Linux PC and TNC's on site already, but I don't yet know
what version of that OS it uses.
As above, please tell me more, or point me at a link somewhere....
Cheers.

Ha ha! You must have missed the dozen or so postings about using SkyCommand.
