Scott, did you manage to locate a Maxon vhf data radio at a reasonable
price?
No, they do not do 5 KHz channel spacing in their stock form (stock 12.5
KHz channels), but are easily modified.

Art

I missed Scott's original post, but have previoulsy found some
documentation by fishing around the sites of some of the folks who where
Maxon distributors. I have a small collection of UHF, 220, and VHF data
radios (mostly UHF) that I bought from an eBay surplus guy in Florida. If
anybody positively, absolutely has to have one of these, let me know. I
have data on some of them. They are not all Maxon, and I can't recall the
other vendors just this moment.

Yes, it uses the UNPROTO path. SO you can set that anyway you like.

Can't Play
Stephen,
I was successful creating the CD using the Nero .nrg file. At least,
listened to the start of a few tracks and all seemed well.
I am able to listen to the tracks by using Windows Media Player 11 (on an XP
home machine) by calling up Media Player and asking it to open the CD. It
displays all seven audio tracks just fine (no track names of course).
The CD does not autorun for me -- I don't know if it was supposed to -- but
that's not a problem for me.
And I can't read the .RTF file on the CD using Word 2003 or Wordpad --
perhaps a recording glitch? I just get rows of small squares. The .htm file
in the nrg.zip file works fine.
Thanks!

This may do what you require
intended to be used with the free dropin replacement firmware for the
Tiny-2, called 'UI-Digi' created by Marco Savegnano IW3FQG See
relating to UIDigi and the 'New n-N Paradigm'
There's also some PIC circuits which convert the data from a WM918 / WX200
weather station to suit a UI-Digi equiped Tiny-2 here as well

Hi there,
I don't know if you were aware or not but prior to deployment, I was in a
very bad wreck. I fell asleep driving back to Fort Bragg at 0200 and hit
another car. I broke my left thumb and had severe bruising on my ribs. As
for the other party involved, no one else was hurt. Anyway, the reason that
I am telling you this is because I didn't have my cell phone with me and I
had to use APRS to get help. I was about 17 miles from Lumberton NC when
the wreck happened. I couldn't raise anyone on the voice repeaters in that
area so I started an emergency beacon and after about the thrid beacon, I
had several stations contact me....including one in Charleston SC. I, at
the time, had no idea where I was because I was kinda in shock but one of
the stations gave my gps cordinates to the NC HP and they came right to me
in about 45 min. I couldn't believe that the aprs system worked that well.
I am a true believer!!
