Ryan, it sure as heck sounds like your alternator is cutting out and then
you are seeing battery voltage alone. Unless Honda has done something
cleverly special, I'd say you have an intermittent failure or a bad output
lead on the alternator. Honda has been known to do some special things with
alternators--so I'd check with a dealer, or Honda themselves, ASAP. If that
isn't intentional, you're dancing with a sudden total failure to come in
the car. (If the car is still under warranty, get it to the shop and let
them say this is normal on paper.<G>)

I think Stephen misread you and didn't realize it was intermittent WHILE
the car was running.

If Hondas are supposed to do this--let us all know?

Gudday

Been doing some experimentation last few days into the best way to pass
traffic from remote sites into a HQ.

We have tried

1) UI send and forget packets - with linux perl looking at TNC
2) APRS messaging - with port xastir port 2023 talking to perl
3) 2.4 GHz wifi - failed misserably
4) Connect mode in AX25 with perl running on linux looking at serial port

By far the most simplest and most efficient was to set the kenwood up to 10
users, and then let them connect over good ole ax25 and send data.
The ack function was pushed back into the radio ax25 protocol layer instead
of the data layer eg APRS messaging.

Learnt heaps and found I could pass 17 pieces of infor in 2.5 secconds.

Try reading that out over air ! hee hee

All good fun, cheers Andy

How far from the battery are you measuring? Are you seeing a voltage
drop randomly or do you notice the drop when your radio transmits a
position? Even with a #10 feeding my transceiver (8 feet from the
battery) I see as much as 1 volt drop (at the radio end).

What is the measurement right at the battery terminals?

It should work without the space. Maybe you had a typo

Assuming down there that just about everyone into APRS has a D7, then it
might be Better to use APRS so that you can use simple D7's or D700's at
the checkpoints without any fuss with a PC. Maybe you dont have lots of
D7's or D700's down there, but up here, most people have them and it sure
makes easy entry...

If the format is designed for easy entry... that is,
Here is what I would use for the APRS message format.
1) dont enter TIME wiht a colon. Takes longer
2) Dont retype HORSE each time
3) For D7 entries just press each D7 key once instead of the actual digit
characters, since digits take 4 key strokes per digit. The two examples
above when formatted from the TTpad of the D7 would be entered as:

3#1000#1#2#3#4#5
3#1001#6#7#8#9#10

But on the air would look like this:

d?q ?q?a?d?g?j
d?q q?m?p?t?w?q_

But since you are writing softwware to put it into your data base, then the
software can just as easy read the alpha characters and convert them to
digits...

Anyway, we always thought that D7 TTpad data entry was the way to go. And
if you were running APRStt (touchtone) then anyone with any DTMF HT could
enter the same data too, since APRStt would convert it from DTMF to APRS at
the APRStt engine. This way you get 100% participation and not just those
with the D7. But APRStt never caught on..

Those at a PC would still enter the the message
like this
3,1000,1,2,3,4,5
3,1001,6,7,8,9,10

etc
just a thought. Depending on whether y ou have a lot of D7's for easy data
entry...

Randomly and the same anywhere in the circuit. I guess I'll go try and pry
the info out of the service dept. Monday

Mate people in this group have never heard of a D7

Tried again

;EI7MLR-0 *010000z5237.06N/00646.71WrPHG5840 430.950 +7.6
;EI2ECR-0 *010000z5209.53N/00736.09Wr PHG4730 145.675 -0.6

EI2ECR works on the TH-D7E, EI7MLR doesn't appear.

I'll check the TM-D700E later.
