I thought the past three years were bad enough on SIX with only a couple
of openings but this summer seems to be even worse. I have been scanning
daily but have heard not one signal, not even a beacon.I have never known
SIX to be as poor as it has been over the past three years.Sporadic E
seems to be prctically non-existent. Summer time tropo on 144 is no better
either but I can put that down to the lack of high pressure areas in the
Bight not bringing hot weather. We have had several cool summers in a row.
I began to suspect my SIX beam but, putting my rig on very low power on a
keyer I went for a drive taking a handheld, and can hear my tx several
miles away even with hills between us and without getting out of the car.
Nope! Not that!
Granted the amount of activity on six is not what it used to be but there
are beacons in several states but not one of them have I heard.A couple
years ago I did work three countries, YB0, T88 and FK8 and heard XE
beacon, but this summer - nothing.
Please Warren, don't start with the Faraday shield again or I'll brain
you. There has to be a better explanation than that rubbish.
Cheers, see you on SIX the Magic Band.. Ha Ha! that's funny this year!!
Well, it seems to have disappeared like the Magician's rabbit. No that's
not right, the rabbit appeared - the band has disappeared, oh what the
Heck!
