Hi Dave and readers,

All well and good Dave, but as long as Amateur Radio sysops keep
forwarding with land line lids nothing will change. Whether it be
microwave WLAN or what we have in the way of radio forwarding, as long as
those pesky LLLs interfere with the radio network we will continue to
have the same problems for the same reasons.

Like you said (in essense) we must be independent of third party carriers
in order to conduct emergency and disaster services, but what good is any
of it if half the network goes down because the telephone system which
carries the Internet ceases functioning? I saw that happen recently with
something as simple as that DoS attack which shut down the majority of
ISPs, packet traffic fell off to a small fraction of it's normal volume.

Now before I catch any more heat from those land line lids and one in
particular like the last time I mentioned it, let me explain that first
of all the attack was over before the radio network had a chance to
reorganize, so some did not recognize what happened. Then the LLS never
saw it at all, what they saw was a cessation of traffic altogether
although they will never admit to being affected at all.

Like you and many others I would like to see a quantum leap in this
frankly outdated mode, but it will never become a reality until we make
it worth the effort. Making it worth the effort requires cleaning house,
taking the mill stone from around our necks, removing the land line lids
who are destroying what we already have in the way of radio
communications.

Death to LLLLAN, long live WLAN and Amateur Radio!
