Have you tried 9K6 on 2 metres ?
9K6 will work at signal levels below where 1K2 stops working.
But it requires setting up correctly otherwise you are on a hiding to nothing.
} 2m gear is the most common stuff around and anything higher has reduced
} range and is hard to obtain. Any less range would not suffice for the
} many hams who live quite a distance from the BBS.

23cm links *can* work where 2m links don't.
