Hi People,

It has been a while since I last sent out a bulletin in regards to our
local WLAN (802.11b) developments.

After a few weeks of signal drop outs we have re-established the point to
point link over the 7 KM from my place to Glenn's (VK3YY).

I have moved from using the laptop and the PCMCIA card to using as an
Access Point (DWL-900AP+) in client mode to access the ftp/smtp/http/etc
services that glenn has for offer.

As well as the usual tcpip stuff, we have used VNC to make our PC's
console echo to a remote system, like PCanywhere. Mapped each other's
drives, easier than FTP, and finally, have had a Fullduplex Video link
established using our WebCams and NetMeeting in Peer2Peer mode.

All in all very exciting and amazing. This still at 2Mbit/s.

We are yet to establish a central "repeating" node for more interested
parties to use but it will happen.

All the best

Mark
