Well having no BB connection in our little village yet all be we are
prommised, but having relations in Local town with access Etc Etc

I Finaly decided to allow myself the pleasure of a New Laptop as the pre Xmas
offers were getting rather tempting.

So a 1.5 Gig Intel Duo Core 32 BIT CPU 2 Gig RAM and 160 Gig HD arrived.

It came pre loaded with Vista and of course one of my first moves was to
visit a friend and using the wirless link, update just about everything I
could, install AVG Free and update to Vista required version and also install
Zone alarm plus again the updates for Vista.

Now much of what is currently on the laptop is simular to my Main PC which
has a 3.2 Gig Intel CPU 2 Gig RAM and 250 Gig paratitioned HD so all in all
apart from Vista they are simular, that asside the laptop has a few extra
bits of harware ? Fingerprint recognition, DTV tuner ( not in use ) DVD/CD RW
and so on again within reason it is simular to my main PC.

Booting a few days after all the update and installation was completed I was
wondering why was it so busy and what was it doing ? Ah yes it was running a
FULL scan by AVG, ok so no problem apart from the fact it was taking so long.

My laptop scanned 171,320 objects and took 1Hr 15Min to complete.
Just out of Interest I set the P4 to do the same.
My P4 which as I say has XP-PRO scanned 48,854 objects and took just 24 Min.

Given that as far as I am the user and have tried to configure it to have the
same and or simular software to the P4 then I must conclude that VISTA is
responcible for the extra 130,000+ files and just under an hour of AVG scan
time ?

If I was sure I could get drivers for everything I would install XP-PRO onto
the laptop, so many things have been said about Vista on this mode and so far
as I can gather the ONLY people who are happy is Microsoft !!!

What a load of rubish, I remember the old days of my C64 and BASIC when the
BUZZ word for new PCs was " Backward Compatible " Nothing about Vista apears
to conform to that one.
