I see only one thing: A long, drawn-out occupation, bitterly resisted,
inestimaby costly in terms of human lives.
It will likely take at least ten years to withdraw from Iraq. When
coalition troops are eventually withdrawn, a more radical Islamist
movement will probably take control, engendering even more anti-western
attitudes across the middle east.
Using Saddam Hussein, evil as he may have been, as a Bin Laden stand-in
is really going to cost us.
