THe advice about nags or horses isn't a joke.
In my schooldays. We were taught in chemistry that soap is basically
sodium stearate plus a fat.

Gelatine from horses and cows horns and hooves is one ingredient.
If you'r out in the bush, how about wood ash plus kangaroo fat?

There are some other types of soap like the ones made from coal tar.
Remember Pears? You usually add some perfume of course.
