Friends of Low Frequencies - Bulletin No.1 23rd.March 1998

Here comes the first issue of FLF club bulletin. First of all we thanks to
everyone who became a member of FLF. We got many replays from all over the
Wolrd. List of members untill 23.3.98 is printed at the end of the bulletin.
As we published earlier the beacon is in progress and will be active very
soon. And now some informations about LF.

137 kHz
You can already hear some beacons on 137kHz, so here is list of some.
EI0CF beacon is on the air each Saturday and Sunday on 136.36 kHz from
10:00Z until 13:00Z. Finbar, would appreciate reports and his telephone
number is broadcast as part of the beacon message.
OH1TN beacon is on the air most evenings from 19:00Z to 22:00Z, unless
Reino is working DX on 80 or 160 meters. The frequency is in the range
136.5 - 137.5 kHz +/-QRM. The beacon is located in KP11OO and is sending
" V V V DE OH1TN QRA KP11OO ". Reino is using homebrew TX, about 80 W
and inverted L antenna. Vertical 28m , horizontal wire 500m to the East.
DA0LF beacon is QRV on 137.1 kHz.
ON0BCN beacon is QRV on 137.48 kHz.
G3LDO beacon is QRV on 137 kHz. No further informations.

- Here is the list of countries which already can use 137 kHz band.
G, GD, GI, GJ, GM, GU, GW, EI, ON, DL, OK, OM, OH, LY, HB9, ES, T7
If I forgot to mention someone, let me know, please.
- UK LF operators hold nets on Saturday - on 3720 kHz at 09:00Z, and
1973 kHz at 19:00Z.
- Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea - Amateurs in this region
have been looking to longwave frequencies for some time. Hams in
Papua New Guinea and New Zealand have had operating privileges on
160 - 190 kHz. Australians have been able to operate by special permit.
Contacts over distances of more than 150 miles have been made between
ZL hams and experimental licensees in VK. One-way reception of ZL
stations at 1100 km has also been reported in Australia. WIA is asking
for the entire 100 - 200 kHz octave to be allocated to amateurs.
