Hi Ian,

I have read that volcanic activity releases dust into the air. The dust
shades the earth & temperatures fall. Glaciers & ground strata show lines
of volcanic dust from eruptions.

So maybe there was some major volcanic activity in the 1400s?

I saw it written that old UK stone churches have no original heating
installed because the climate was warmer back then. Maybe people were used
to getting colder & working long hours outdoors back then?
