Hi Warren,

OK no new nuclear stations for many years in the USA. Like everywhere the
demand for AC power increases, so it must mean lots more coil & oil fired
plants? Yes a few wind farms will have been built too.

The "molten sodium" techniques I read about do away with the need for
"heavy water" around the reactor core & worries about radioactive steam
discharges.

Yes the ash from coal may be a problem, unless it can be made in something
useful like bricks for housing contruction?
Does "acid rain" get much of a mention? I once visited "The Great Smokie
Mountain Ranges". I was told that the dead & dying trees were due to the
acid rain from the many smoke stacks in the nearby states.

A pity there isn't a highly efficient (50% or better) solar panel
technique available. All that sun energy in the southern states & desert
regions going to waste because we don't have a good way to collect it.
