I guess so Michae;l, but there are constant warnings to people to get in
before the hot weather and clear leaves and other combustible matter away
from their houses. Some do, some don't. I have a sister in law who with
her husband lives right in the middle of jarrah forest country. If a wild
fire went through there the would be in real trouble.Nice to live in the
depths of the forest but there are risks as they have discovered in
Victoria several times in past years.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.

>Hi Bob,

Yes I had heard that planned burning in early spring (while the forests
are still damp?) does prevent major, destructive summer bushfires.
It was on TV that the Aboriginal people used to practice planned burning.

Yes it wouldn't be possible to do "burning off areas" where houses had
been built amoung the bush. While it is a nice location, the risk from
fire would be obvious to the owners?
