At last! Some DX on VHF from Albany! Wally VK6WG with the aid of a very
nice hillside has had one or two short openings on 144 to VK5; however I
have had only one, yesterday, and I have had none on 50 mHz. The weather
conditions here have been a record cool and humid summer which produced
very few high pressure areas in the Bight and troughs along the west
coast, necessary factors before ducting takes place into the eastern
states. With a large high in the Bight and high temperatures along the
west coast (41.5C in Perth, 36C Albany) conditions were right and some
ducting took place.

My Log.
21 Feb. 2006 1715 144.1 VK5AKK	55 55 on SSB. Distance: 2670 km.

The VK5 beacon was audible for much of the 24 hours from 20 Feb. and VK6WG
worked a couple of stations including VK5AKK on 432.1. The 432 signals
were not audible where I live.Wally's hill pays off in marginal
conditions.

Bob VK6BE.
