UI-View32 sometimes referred to as APRS is a fantastic realtime comms mode
at the reach of all Radio Amateurs. The program was written like Winpack
by Roger G4IDE(SK) It is an excellent program, in use in this shack 24/7
for the last five years. At first glance one could be forgiven for
thinking its just a reporting system but, nowt could be further from the
truth and whether you use RF or INET it is really the bees knees!
If you are mobile and you are using a little TT3+Combo together with a
handy of some description such as a VX-7R or a DJ-596 putting out FIVE
watts you will be seen all over the world AND if your handicapped loike
wot i am and in need of medical aid frequently its a dream come true!
I cannot tell you the number of times when in France and using basic WiFi
ive had UIV32 running on my Laptop and ive been in realtime INSTANT
MESSAGING with a fellow Ham. The world become quite small and reassuring
to anold man and old lady. Putting out an SOS is just a simple process of
addressing To:ALL Port:I Message:SOS SOS SOS plse call nr in beacon asap!
Within minutes am talking to medics and the matter is being sorted. Have a
word with Julien 9Z4FZ or Don G1LEV or 9V1PS they are regular chats with
me and they will confirm that if UIV32 were used properly by RF instead of
INET more Radio Hams would want to get involved. Dont give up on the first
call, some stateside amateurs do not use the [AA]Auto-Answer but we in EU
