I believe that trace7-7 and wide7-7 are specific functions of APRS, where
as an SSID is a callsign station sub-identifier used by APRS stations.
My QTH station (if I were generating RF), would not use a Callsign SSID,
but would use functions within the unproto address thus;
APRS,RELAY,WIDE,TRACE5-5
When I establish a Mobile Station, I will most likely use a Callsign SSID
thus;
M5WJF-9
and am likely to use the following unproto address thus;
APRS,RELAY,WIDE and possibly TRACE5-5 since I will be using a computer in
the car rather than Tiny-Trak (or similar).
My examples given in the previous Bull are from around the World, and thus
others have used SSID's for other purposes, indeed most of the text
written in the Bull was taken from websites to explain the varying uses
for SSID's, including your quote.
I don't think anyone is missing anything, I just think that SSID's are
fairly pointless without a framework or convention, and as they have never
been defined within a convention, even by Bob WB4APR, it's just another
vague area within the hobby, Hi!
