I just had a call from a pal in the Oldham area of the NW UK
he lives nr the flight path for Manchester Airport and is well
used to seeing aircraft of all kinds, about 6:30 pm last night
a clear but dark night he noticed a pair of amber lights traveling
West to East about 300/500 meters apart 3000ft up and around 300mph
they were followed by 3 more pairs just the same, no noise at all,
he got is binoculars out but could only see the amber lights nothing
behind them.
Anyone else in the NW see any thing? or have any clue as to what
they my be? on a line roughly Bolton Oldham Doncaster?
As I said he is well used to seeing all kinds of aircraft by day
and night and is sure he was seeing something he had never seen
before, the sun is well below the horizon at this time
in this area so it is very unlikely to be a sun reflecting from
a aircraft and there was no sign of any strobes or other nav
lights or landing lights.
