UFOs on ABC World News
The purpose of these files is to report weekly the UFO eyewitness and
photo/video evidence that occurs on a daily basis around the world and in
space. Many people claim it is impossible for UFOs to visit Earth, I ask
you only to keep an open mind and watch the evidence we accumulate each
week. These Files make the assumption that extraterrestrial intelligent
life not only exists, but my hypothesis is that of the over one hundred
UFOs reported each week many represent a factual UFO sighting.
European Space Agency finds Volcanism, water ice and a frozen sea on Mars.
Microbe 32,000 years old Comes to Life
UFOs were seen over Alabama, Arizona, California, District of Columbia,
Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina,
Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington. Sightings were also reported
in Argentina, Canada, Korea, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Mars - ESA Finds Volcanism and Frozen Sea
European Space Agency Mars Express has taken High Resolution Stereo Camera
(HRSC) images of water, ice, glaciers and volcanism at the Martian north
polar ice cap. The images show layers of water ice and dust for the first
time in perspective view. There are cliffs which are almost 2 kilometres
high, and the dark material in the caldera-like structures and dune fields
could be volcanic ash.

The ESA discovered what scientists say appears to be a giant frozen sea
near the planet's equator. This image appears to show a flood plain
measuring 800 X 900 kilometers wide and averages 45 metres deep.
The area is covered by a thick layer of volcanic ash, according to the ESA
which has published the images on its website. "They look just like the
rafts of fragmented sea ice that lie off the coast of Antarctica on Earth,"
the ESA website said. The water froze and broke into blocks which then
became covered by an insulating layer of volcanic ash. "Ice is unstable on
the surface of Mars because of the low atmospheric pressure, and sublimates

Microbe 32,000 years old Comes to Life
A new type of organism discovered in an Arctic tunnel came to life in the
lab after being frozen for 32,000 years. The deep-freeze bacteria called
Carnobacterium pleistocenium, could point to new methods of medical
research, cryogenics, and they are the sort of biology scientists say might
exist on Mars and other planets and moons.
"The existence of microorganisms in these harsh environments suggests - but
does not promise -- that we might one day discover similar life forms in
the glaciers or permafrost of Mars or in the ice crust and oceans of
Jupiter's moon Europa," said Richard Hoover, an astrobiologist at NASA's
Marshall Space Flight Center. NASA described the newfound critter as "the
first fully described, validated species ever found alive in ancient ice."
Hoover said the Martian ice blocks are so near the surface that they might
partly melt in summer, creating underground pools of water that would allow
any microorganisms to grow and reproduce.

Alabama - Daytime UFO Video Footage
SOUTH ALABAMA - The witness was laying back looking up at the sky on
February 20, 2005, having a smoke. He states, `Suddenly this object passed
right over my head moving off to the northwest.' The object maintained the
same altitude for the course of the sighting, somewhere between 500 to 1000
feet. Its forward speed was that of a small prop plane. The wind was
variable with a few high clouds. Having my camera I quickly powered it on
and shot video of the object as it moved away from my position. I am

Arizona - Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant
ESTRELLA MOUNTAIN - The witness states, `On February 8, 2005, about 7:30
PM, Lisa and I went outside and saw some lights low and near the Palo Verde
nuclear power plant.' I also heard that the plant had a small electrical
fire and had to shut down one reactor. Remember the last time we saw this
is June 14, 2004 when the other reactor shut down. Weird huh? The reason we
went outside was due to hearing the dogs barking all around the area. The
dogs eventually stopped barking.
Then the Estrella lights came on! I taped them and as soon as I was done,
not even 30 seconds went by when we heard a car collision. Two cars had a
small accident on the road right behind our home. I hopped the wall to see
if they were all right but both drivers took off. They left the scene of
the accident they were just involved in. It was like we had some strange
force that turned on our neighborhood. I do believe that what happens at
Palo Verde has these UFO's attention.

California - Possible Triangular Craft
THOUSAND OAKS - The witness reports, On February 17, 2005, it was a rainy
night with many clouds. I was driving west on Hillcrest in Thousand Oaks
when I noticed an object hovering over the road in the distance in front of
me at 8:30 PM, about 500 feet above the road. The object had a dull bluish
lights at either end or what appeared to be an orangish beam of light
coming from somewhere in the middle. What was weird was that unlike an
ordinary helicopter spotlight this was very dull once I got closer to the
object. As I got almost directly underneath it, I realized the object was a
lot closer to the ground than I thought. I could not identify the shape of
the object even though it appeared to be 150 - 200 feet above me. It was
completely silent and I realized that something was definitely not right.
The object drifted west in a very steady manner and the object's blue
lights were on the left and right side and the orange glowing light was on
the front in relation to the direction of travel. It appeared to be a
triangle shape and suddenly disappeared.

MODESTO - The witness reports, `I was driving home on a country road on
February 12, 2005, at 6 PM, and just drove over railroad tracks, when a
bright blue fireball came from my left and jetted in front of my windshield
and went up in the sky. As I was driving to get on the freeway this object
stayed in front of me and almost seemed to be watching me. When I got on
the freeway heading north, I then saw three objects as in a formation. They
were very high in the sky."

District of Columbia - Analysis of Photo
The National Park Service Web cam caught an unidentified craft over the
capital. Further analysis by David Twichell and MUFON's Dr. Bruce Macabbee
writes, Regarding the picture of "something" over Washington DC, I believe
it was a normal aircraft, probably a helicopter, with steady running lights
and strobes. The "UFO" picked up by a 24/7 camera is a time exposure and is
most likely a normal aircraft with lights making the long streaks and
strobe lights making the light "dots".
David Twichell writes, `If you will notice the light streaks on the highway
at the bottom of the frame, you will see that they are elongated. These are
the headlights of passing cars as captured by the slow shutter speed of the
camera. The object in the sky is an airplane subject to the same
conditions.'

Florida - Cylinder
TAVARES - The observer saw a cylindrical object with small white and red
lights, moving toward his position and then disappearing five times on
February 23, 2005, at 6 PM. The lights were very bright. The object
appeared and seemed to move toward my direction and then it suddenly
vanished. This happened four times. I then asked my co-worker to come and
see this and he came out and witnessed the last episode. I waited to see if
it would happen again and it did not.

Georgia - Sphere
BRUNSWICK - The witness states, `I was out on my back porch and turned to
my right and saw this object (oval sphere in shape) on February 11, 2005,
at 6:28 PM. It was 200 to 300 feet above the pine trees heading south at
speed of a single engine craft. The object was lighted at about the
intensity of a 75 watt light bulb and was a sphere/oval traveling
south slowly making no sound. I followed the object as far as I could and
just before it went out of sight it appeared to be two of-set spheres."

Maryland - Cigar-Shaped Object
ROCKVILLE - A college student who has studied Astronomy throughout high
school and college, who is a pretty observant person noticed an object in
the sky at about 45 degrees elevation that was grayish in color and
cigar-shaped, and was traveling at quite a brisk pace. The sighting
occurred on February 19, 2005, at 2:35 PM, while he was sitting at a
traffic light. It was flying about 30 miles per hour. If I had to estimate
the size of the object, I would say it was about the diameter of a quarter
if held at arm's length. I would estimate the elevation to be 500 feet
above the ground at the most. If memory serves me right, this would make
this a right isosceles triangle, meaning that the distance on the ground
between me and the object was about 500 feet. The object also seemed to be
hazy. It was definitely not a helicopter, because it was flat, and did not
have any rotor blades and didn't make any sound. I only took my gaze away
from it for two seconds, and it disappeared.

Massachusetts - Disk UFO Sighting
DORCHESTER -- On February 13, 2005, at 5:45 PM, the observer states, `As I
stepped out of my back door, I immediately noticed a peculiar shaped object
much bigger than an airplane suspended in air with white and green lights
and a circular shape.' There were 2 other airplanes that flew by.

New Hampshire - Saucer with Lights
PITTSBURG - The witness was traveling south on Route 3, and noticed a
saucer shaped craft in the sky with a ring of diamond shaped flashing
lights ringing the bottom of the object on February 8, 2005, at 6:30 PM.
Another similar object moved very quickly into view and was very close to
the first craft, then, within a few seconds the second object quickly went
out of sight.

New York - UFO Sighting
LONG ISLAND -- On February 23rd, 2005, I had just checked into a motel in
Farmingdale, 100 meters south of the Republic Airport perimeter along
Highway 110 at 3:15 PM EST. As I stepped down from my truck, I looked up
and saw two small, spherical, white objects making their way toward my
general direction.
Their elevation was approximately 75 degrees above the horizon--almost
overhead. I was facing to the north while the objects were traveling from
east to west (right to left). At first, I was almost sure they were
balloons but I noticed that the second object lagging behind the first one
seemed to be acting erratically, weaving slightly, bobbing as though
hitting rough air currents. Several times, the trailing object seemed to
approach the leading object then back off as if playing "tag". At one
point, I distinctly saw it make a curved approach to the first object and,
once again, back away. The winds aloft were definitely blowing from west to
east at about 30 mph.
On the ground, the winds were steady and almost the same speed. Visibility
was excellent with a blue sky. I, then, realized that the weaving and
bobbing objects were traveling directly into the wind--something balloons
cannot do on their own. Seagulls overhead could not quite penetrate the
wind, but these objects were chugging along at approximately 15 mph into
the wind. I then dropped everything and ran to my motel room, grabbed my
digital camera, jumped out the door and looked up immediately. The two
objects had mysteriously departed. I had taken my eyes off them only for
about 45 seconds. They could not have moved out of sight without a sudden
dramatic burst of speed--unless they simply vanished. The two objects
seemed to be about 2 or 3 feet in diameter, judging by their rapid wobbling
and bobbing as if being buffeted by wind gusts. Their altitude would then
be about 600 feet at the most.
General aviation air traffic was frequent in that area which made the
objects possible hazards. I did not check with airport authorities
regarding my sighting. But I feel certain these were unconventional flying
objects. I snapped quite a few digital pictures in all directions in hopes
that the objects were still there and might show up in the near-infrared
which a digital camera can pick up. But the photos revealed no images. I am
a UFO investigator with a lifelong interest in aviation and astronomy and
have had many definite sightings of true unknowns.
COMMACK - The observer went outside to his backyard to watch the night sky
on January 31, 2005, at 7:30 PM, and spied a dark boomerang shaped object
pass overhead well below airline traffic. There were six round shaped
objects of the same size on the bottom side (possibly could have been
lights) unlit. They could have been slightly illuminated. It moved at a
steady, quiet speed traveling from east to west. As I watched it pass over
my house it seemed to disappear in the night sky. No visible lights to
follow its movement.
