[TstSign v. 2.5 English documentation]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is TstSign ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With TstSign you can add your personal headers and footers to your TstHost
mails. This is not possible with TstHost. TstHost can only add an footer with
ENDMESSAGE <FileName>.
TstSign has capabilities to use different calls. So you can make for certain
persons a different header/footer then normal. It has many extra features, wich
you'll learn while reading this document.
What to put where ?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This part is very important.. The installation:
- Copy TSTSIGN.EXE to your TSTHOST directory (usually: C:\TSTHOST\)
- Copy and Rename the LANGUAGE.ENG to TSTSIGN.LNG in your TSTHOST directory
- Make some nice Headers and footers and put these into your TSTHOST
directory. More info about this later in this doc.
- (optional) Make a TSTSIGN.ORI in your TSTHOST directory with in it some nice
proverbs. (Only one line pro proverb)
- Make sure your FTime=0 in your TSTHOST.CFG (forwarding from TstHost no longer
needed, TstSign will do this for you)
Signing a message
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following steps are nescesary to provide a message with headers and
footers.
- Type your message in TstHost like you usually do.
- End the message with F2 (save it!)
- Type RUN TSTSIGN (make sure DOS can find it!)
- Forward the message with FWD (or use the commandline switch of TstSign)
You can also Sign and forward at the same time. Then type RUN TSTSIGN /F
instead RUN TSTSIGN.
All messages written by you will be signed. You can add /SKIP at the top of
your message and TstSign will leave that message alone. If you've KEEPLINE
configured at OFF, the standard TstHost-Line will be removed, the /SKIP option
does not affect this.
Sign with a Macro (makes it a lot easier)
1. You can make the sign-process easier by adding the following lines to your
TSTHOST.MAC file (if it not exists, you can just make it!)
:F 8
10 WAITDISC
20 RUN TSTSIGN /F
Note: The number after "F" is the forwardchannel. If you don't have 8
channels, please modify this by your last channel available.
You can find more about Macro's in your TstHost manual.
2. If you don't want to use the macro file, you can add a line to your
TSTHOST.CFG file to start the Signing process.
FU 4 RUN TSTSIGN /F
You can now start Signing with CTRL+F4. More info about the FU command, in
your TstHost Manual.
3. You can also add TstSign to your hourly CRON. Now every our TstSign will
sign your messages and forward them afterwards. To do so, please add the
following lines to your TSTHOST.CRN:
* 0-24
RUN TSTSIGN /F
If you've TstHost 1.42 or a previous version, you must add the next line to
your TSTHOST.CRN:
* 0-24 RUN TSTSIGN /F
Configuration of TstSign
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TstSign has many features. The TSTHOST.CFG file is needed to use them
correctly. First a summary of all available switches.
7PLUS_TOO : 7+ files will be signed too. Normally TstSign doesn't do that
7PLUSSIGN= : Sign 7+ files with different Headers and signatures. Type the
filename without extension after the =.
Ex.: 7PLUSSIGN=7PLUS
TstSign will look now for 7PLUS.HDR and 7PLUS.SGN
More about headers and Signatures later in this document.
COPYMSG_OFF : This will disable the standard TstSign-text. I would appreciate
it if you note you're using TstSign somewhere else.
KEEPLINE : Normally TstSign will remove the standard_TstHost_line, wich is
placed at the top of your messages (version 1.42 or newer). If
you don't want the line do nothing. When you do want it, just put
this word in your TSTSIGN.CFG
NICE_RE : Standard TstHost is quoting your replys with a ">" before every
line of the text from the original sender. If you want " > ", you
can add this switch to your TSTSIGN.CFG. It looks nice, but note
that your messages will be 2 bytes longer pro line.
NO_ADC : Normally TstSign detects your MYCALL. If you've some problems
with it, you can turn it off. (No Auto Detect CallSign) If you
do, you MUST define your callsigns with the switch SUPCALL=
NOSIGN= : This is the place where you can put 30 calls (maximum), wich you
don't want to be signed. If you want a different Sign for this
CALLS (addresses), you can put a "," with the file behind it.
Eg.: NOSIGN=NEWS,NEWS
Now all messages adressed to NEWS will be signed with NEWS.HDR
and NEWS.SGN
SUPCALL= : If you want to sign other calls then your Mycall then you can put
them here. TstSign will look for the files with these names. You
can use this if you send a message with SP AA1AAA < ZZ1ZZZ. If
you place ZZ1ZZZ after SUPCALL=, TstSign will look for the files
ZZ1ZZZ.HDR and ZZ1ZZZ.SGN. You can put here 7 calls (no more!)
and SUPCALL can only be once in your config file!!
Example-TSTSIGN.CFG
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This file (TSTSIGN.CFG) must exist in your TSTHOST root (same directory as
TSTHOST.EXE). Here is an example: (note that lines beginning with # will be
ignored by TstSign)
7PLUS_TOO
# You want to sign all your 7+ files too
7PLUSSIGN=7PLUS
# This messages will be signed with 7PLUS.HDR and/or 7PLUS.SIG.
COPYMSG_OFF
# You don't want TstSign to put his standard line below your messages.
KEEPLINE
# You want TstSign to leave the time-stamp-line alone
NICE_RE
# You want TstSign to change ">" to " > "
NO_ADC
# You want to sign more messages then only MYCALL
NOSIGN=REQDIR AMIGA,AMILOGO WP NL1SYS,NL1SYS AUTO7P
NOSIGN=REQLST GLUKKO,GLUKLOGO
# All messages sended to REQDIR, WP, AUTO7P and REQLST won't be signed
# All messages to AMIGA, NL1SYS and GLUKKO will be signed with their own
# headers and signatures
SUPCALL=AA1AAA
# You also want TstSign to Sign all messages from "AA1AAA" (perhaps your second
# mycall?)
Headers and Signatures
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your Headers and Signatures must be standard US-ASCII. You can make them in
your own favourite editor. The extension of your headers will be .HDR and your
signatures will have .SGN
If you don't want a header, just don't make the .HDR file. Same with the
signatures.
You can also use some Macro's, wich will be replaced by TstSign:
%# - The number of your message (BID)
%B - The @BBS field
%D - The date DD/MM/YYYY
%D1 - The date in words (13rd January 1997)
%D2 - The day of the week
%M - Your call
%O - An origin from your TSTSIGN.ORI file (1 randomly chosen line)
%R - The address (TO CALL)
%S - The Subject
%V - Version number of TstSign.
E.g.:
Your_Place, %D2 %D1
From: %M To: %R @ %B
Subject: %S
After the signing Process it would be:
Your_Place, Monday 2nd February 1997
From: NL1MST To: ALL @ NLD
Subject: Re: Hoeveel keer nog??
As mentioned earlier also other calls can be Signed. You must define these
calls with SUPCALL= in your TSTSIGN.CFG and make the nescesary files. If
SUPCALL=TEST, then TstSign will use TEST.HDR as header file and TEST.SGN as
signature.
The same files are needed for calls defined with NOSIGN= and 7PLUSSIGN=.
TSTSIGN.ORI
~~~~~~~~~~~
You can put some nice text (one-liners) in your TSTSIGN.ORI. You can make the
file in your favourite ASCII editor. If you want TstSign to put one of these
lines in your message, you must use %O in your header and/or signature files.
TSTSIGN.LNG
~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the languagefile TstSign uses. For English use the ENGLISH.LNG. If you
want to make one of your own, you can use TS_LANG.EXE. If there is no language
(TSTSIGN.LNG) available, TstSign will use English.
Using an alternative sign-file.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you like to sign a particular message with another sign file, use the
/FILE switch.
This must be put on the FIRST line of your message.
/FILE and /SKIP don't go together.
example:
/FILE SHORT
Hello World,
This is a very short message.
/EX
This will sign this message with SHORT.HDR and/or SHORT.SIG
Support
~~~~~~~
At this moment there isn't any direct support from the author any more.
TSTSIGN 2.5 is a very delayed final release of TSTSIGN.
If you need any support, please ask around at fellow TSTSIGN users.
If you still need support then, you could send an email message to
nl2rds@dds.nl
Please clearly state the problem or question you are dealing with.
Messages like 'hey...it doesn't work!' aren't very usefull.
If you think you've found a bug in the program please do not hestitate to
contact me (the author) via email: joegi@usa.net
Again: please state under what conditions a problem occur and ask around if
there are others who encounter the same problem like you do.
I DO intent to release bug-fixes, if needed.
Thanks go to:
