Hi Kevin and sci-fi buffs,

Sorry, I had confused R.A. Heinlein with Asimov's Foundation Series. Yes,
the Gay Deceiver was introduced in The Number Of The Beast which explains
the "theory" behind dimentional drive and the construction of the craft.
BTW, Pixel really got to be a pain in the butt at times, BLERT! (;->) The
command "Gay, bounce" put the craft high above the original planetary
coordinates as a means of escape without actually leaving.

Quite right about the The Mule, he was sterile having some sort of side
effect from those mental powers. I don't remember much about the visionor
he used but believe it to be a device for spying on his enemies.
Something quite similar was featured in an episode of the original Star
Trek series, the one where Kirk and the landing party get switched with
their counterparts in a paralell universe. The "evil" Kirk had one on the
wall of his quarters which he used to observe his enemies and it had the
power to make them disapear. Hmmm, could be the writers were familiar
with the original.

BTW, that episode has many familiar aspects, all taken from the short
stories surrounding Asimov's Mule character. Come to think of it, many
writers use the same concept of The Federation, The Foundation, The
Guild, The Empire or whatever they wish to call it. Always the same
thing, one empire with divided factions, rebels, "our hero" and the rest.

"He IS the Quizat Shadarak!" (;->)

Oh, lest I forget...
"Children, especially male children should be raised in a barrell and fed
through the bung hole. When he reaches age 18 a solemn decision should be
made, whether to let him out of the barrell or drive in the bung."

Now who did I quote and where did that quote appear?
