Hi Ian and all,

Technobabble is ALWAYS funny when you know what it means. One bit that
really cracked me up was when Whorf went back to serve on a Klingon ship
during an exchange and we got a good dose of measurements during a
battle. Distance was in "kellicams" so if you know how specialized studio
equipment gets named you could be wondering why it wasn't in chyrons.

Deuterium is indeed fuel but all things considered we're presently stuck
with the more primitive methane mines and fusion is accomplished with
methane and antimethane injectors rather than dilithium catylist.
Basically you have to learn the technical specifications of future flight
to understand the humor, it's quite intentional.

Speaking of howlers, did you see the episode of STTNG where the crew
reverted to their various primitive forms? Aside from tearing bulkheads
like tissue paper a primitive Klingon can let out a mean howl! Then that
Betazoid just sat in the tub making fish faces and blowing bubbles, quite
a disappointment. (;->)
