I have just been watching a rerun of an episode pf DS9.

One character turned to another and said " We are about to enter the
Teflon system."

I thought "should be a good, clean episode."

Later, I thought "who coins this technobabble, is it the writers. Is it
ignorance or just asense of humour designed to put some levity into the
show ?"

My fovourite bit of pseudo science, from several episodes, is the bit
where they mention visiting " Deuterium mines" D20 is sometimes mentioned
as being their fuel, along with Dilithium (?) and using a "Quantum
singularity" - I wouldn't want to get remotely near one of those !!!

Just how do you mine Deuterium ? Again, was it a joke or ignorance.
For those who don't know what Deuterium is, go to the 'net, I'm sure they
can give a different explanation of it from mine.

Anyone else remember any of the scientific howlers ?
