VK2ZRG/TPK 1.83d Msg #:2122 Date:23-02-06 Time:3:40Z

I have found a problem with TPK in versions 1.81 to 1.83d. Perhaps it's a
bug in TPK, or maybe it's the way I have TPK set up. The problem only occurs if
there are BR MSG_PRIV lines in the CONFIG.TPK file, for cleaning out unwanted
message headers in the private mail list, MSG_PRIV.LST, when TPK is started.
If there are BR MSG_PRIV lines and new mail for download in MSG_PRIV.LST when
TPK starts, TPK counts the new messages when calculating the second number in
the MSG_PRIV.NUM file. The calculated number is lower, by the sum of the new
messages, than it would have been if there were no new messages for download.
The RXMSG.TPK file has the record numbers or positions, in MSG_PRIV.LST
for the new messages. TPK adds the second number in MSG_PRIV.NUM to these
record numbers for the file name or message number, for the new private mail.
Because the second number in MSG_PRIV.NUM has been reduced, the new private
messages are given file names of existing messages in the MSG_PRIV directory,
so overwriting an equal number of existing messages. It's the end ones that
get overwritten.

This is only a private mail problem, it does NOT occur in BBS lists.

Has anyone else found this problem?
