H i all TPK users.
Following my bull about my corrupt version of MAKELIST.EXE, with it's
missing EDITEXEC.EXE and after searching the internet with no luck. I was
sent one by David,ZL3AI, who found it on his BBS. David runs T4 BTW.
Makelist is intended to enable TPK to connect to a BBS which for, whatever
reason, doesn't supply the Unproto headers which TPK needs.
It makes it possible to create a TPK friendly message header list from the
'L' option. It was written by Roger, the late G4IDE, in 1993. He later
went on to incorporate it in Winpack.
I found installing MAKELIST quite easy, except for modifying the
MAKELIST.TEM file, which has specimen BBSs in it but some a bit out of
date.
I suddenly had a brainwave. "Why not just create my own .TEM file?"
To remind me how to do it, if I ever forgot, I wrote the following little
HOWTO. I will put it along with all the rest of the programme on a CD for
future use.
For anyone who might like it, here it is.
Version for a GBR BBS but, put your own in the example. I.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOWTO.LST
1. Rename MAKELIST.TEM to something else e.g. .ORG.
2. Connect to BBS & D'load a few msgs to file called MAKELIST.TEM
in the CAPTURE directory.
3. Edit the file so it has GB7xxx
Msg# S LLLLL TTTTT AAAAA FFFFF XXXXX
etc.
directly under the headers you've d'loaded.
4. Copy this new MAKELIST.TEM to C:\TPK
5. Run MAKELIST.EXE .
6. Start TPK and hit ALT L.
That's all folks.
