Thank you for reading this bulletin:
Robert ZS6YC acquired a PK232-MBX tnc with firmware Rom release 1 Aug
1991 from the estate of a deceased ham. He uses the tnc with a special
software program to work packet. However, this software program is very
basic and does not provide for the making a header list nor does it do
compressed forwarding of data to and from a BBS.
I personally own a Kam and successfully work TPK 1.83d in a Windows
environment, my set up allowing me to carry on with Windows programs
while TPK is doing its thing in the background. I therefore recommended
that Robert try the same for the PK232. According to the TPK Doc p.79
the PK232 can be used with TPK provided that specific config.tpk and
config-x.tpk files be used and in the case of a no-battery version
also the file containing parameters for the PK232.
I downloaded the specified files from the TPK web site and we
prepared a TPK program specifically for Robert on his computer. The
program seems to load successfully and the computer does recognise the
presence of the tnc on either COM1 or COM2, we tried both, but in the
end the program hangs, and won't accept any commands from the keyboard.
We therefore would like to enquire if any packet user@ww uses the PK232
with TPK and perhaps can assist us in finding the cause of the "hanging
up" problem. We would highly appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance....
