You mean you don't use logic when doing a spread sheet? Seriously,
I think you need a voltage comparator. If you read "Digital Basics" in
the ARRL Handbook, then you may be suitably enlightened on a few matters
logical. Or just read a few specs on a logic IC in a data book and you'll
get an idea of what they do and what input/output levels are required.
I've designed many logic circuits over the past 40 years. It's quite easy
just because the circuit operates according to logic. I've designed circuits
on paper, designed and made the PC board, assembled the components onto the
board, turned it on and found that the circuit worked perfectly as per the
paper design. Can't do that with analogue except for the simplest of circuits.
