20 years does not sound long, I would not think that given the
time, energy, and cost of building them they would need to last
a bit longer than that.
The first one I ever saw is still in use and must be over 30 years
old.

A mate as a neighbour that mends them he had a few weeks back to
replace a single blade on one it had fatigue cracks, the cost
œ50000 I don't know how old it was.

I read somewhere that but for the government subsidy it would not
make economic sense to build them, in the UK you can get a
subsidy for even home installations of solar and wind
power, they have to be of a certain minimum size 1.5 kw rings a bell
and be connected to the mains so that excess energy can be sold
back to the power companies.



Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?
