AS with any valve - the only two that will show any continuity between the
pins. In the case of the 6J5, pins 2&7. The 6J5 is a triode so only has
three other pins in use, namely:

Pin 3 = Anode
Pin 5 = Grid
Pin 8 = Cathode. (Kathode if you perefer!).

Ratings:

Heaters      = 6.3V 0.3A
Anode        = 300V max
Power output = max 2.5W

It might have, but it's an octal (8-pin) base. Sometimes, usused pins
were left off valves, other times they were added even though unused,
to help seat the valve more firmly in the holder.

It was commonplace on valveholder bases to use any unused tags to anchor
other wiring which has nothing to do with the workings of that valve. This
can be very misleading to anoyne not familiar with valves construction
techniques.

EG, a piece of equipment using a 6J5 valve would have three spare tags on
the valve-base - tags 1, 4 and 6. To an inexperienced person, if they saw
wires on those tags, they'd not unreasonably expect the wires and any
components were something to do with that valve, rather than the spare
pins being used like a tagstrip.

Anyone who needs info on valves can download a nice little prog free which
has data of more than 16,000 valves. It's called the TDSL database. It
gives pinouts and data on most vales, and links to websitres for extrra
info. It only takes a few minutes to download, and fits on a floppy if
need be. Neat!

Get it from:

http://tdsl.duncanamps.com/index

Lots of links and valve info on that website too.

Also, try:

Frank Phillipes homepage at:

Hope that helps.
