Hello all Confused!
The simple question I asked about battery charging looks like running until
we are all completely flat! Too much 'discharging', without 'alternative'
action. Maybe we should go back to basics.
I suggested that the battery is an integral part of the car electrical system
and that the alternator provides 'all' the electrical energy to run the car.
I think that's a fair statement. Others have said something similar.
Jeff, G4XNH, then told us about his 'cars' that stopped running when the
battery was disconnected. Jerry, K0CQ, gave a logical explanation for this
by saying that the alternator couldn't provide the inrush current to Jeff's
headlights. (Now don't claim you haven't got headlights, Jeff) But Jeff
missed this pertinent point and went off dowsing for nonexistent ulterior
motives.
The whole point we are missing is that the car will only run when everything
is working properly. A car runs because it's running. It doesn't start by
itself and then needs to be fed with the right stuff.
I have had a few 'shots' in this discussion, and so has another rebel. :-)
Others have had a more serious 'dig' but this has been brought about by a
failure to read and comprehend without suspecting a personal attack.
Calm down fellas, it is not complicated unless you make it so.
De-fusing the con-fused?
73. Dick. VK3ABK.
