Hi Barry and all,
Could it be the US has it right by putting AMBER fog lamps in front for
better driver visibility? Yes, amber doesn't cause whiteout nearly as bad
as headlamps. Oh, we've been doing it since electric automotive lamps
were invented and it took until the late 20th century before Europeans
caught on and started making them a standard feature.
Now an Englishman driving in North America would be in for a rude
awakening driving into the rear of the braking car ahead thinking he
switched his "fog lamps" on. Yeah, we call them brake lamps, the tail
lights go bright when we step on the brake. (;->)
That brings up a question, how do the English signal the brake has been
applied? Then too, what good are those fog lamps? Aren't the tail lights
bright enough to be seen under all conditions (except extreme fog) like
ours? Oh dear, don't tell me they're still using parafin carriage lamps!
